How could I forget to mention the results of the fair?  We'll, I got 3 first place ribbons and 2 second place ribbons!

I was so excited and happy!

Pointy Hats and Watermelons!

Hello!  Wow, summer is gone, school is back in, and I think my knitting mojo is back. I have made gifts for two baby showers in one month and moved to another town ALL IN THE SAME MONTH!!!  But, I have survived. Would you like to see the projects?  Of course:

Here is the Watermelon Sweater by Alana Dakos. This is the second one that I have made. Time and experience changes everything.

This is a cute little hat that was a free pattern on Ravelry.

I am also presently working on the Abalone sweater  it will take time, but I will post progress pics soon.

County Fair Waiting and Welted!

While waiting for my projects to be judged at the county fair, I decided to knit a hat for the winter. I loved the Welted Hat pattern from Knit Simple Fall 2013 and I had some handspun lying around. So, here it is:

It fits my hair and is WARM!  The yarns are BFL and Corridale, and I made it down to about 10-20 yards left!  See:

Whew!  Just made it!  Now to wait until tomorrow for the fair results!  I will let you know what happens!

Teal for the Summer

Here is a shawlette that I just finished.

It was the Kaana Shawlette pattern by Jennifer Weissman.  I did not want to do the leaves and did a picot bind off instead.  It came out nice.

Okay, what's next?  We shall see!

A Wash and Good Blocking

I am hoping that a wash and good blocking job will make this sweater a bit looser on the arms. I want it to also be a bit looser in the chest!  It is my yoke sweater that I steeked and I LOVE this sweater!  So, wish me luck and more to come!

Yarn Con Review

Okay, I KNOW this is late.  But, I went to Yarn Con in April, and it was wonderful.  I took a class on cables with Allyson Dykhuizen of Vintage-Inspired Baseball Knits fame.  She was so sweet.  I also did some stash enhancements!  Lookie and enjoy!

A double yarn bowl!

The cutest sheep pendant necklace there!

Yarn of course.  I want these to be shawls.

Finally, I was one of the first through the door, and I scored a phat goodie bag!  Shear excitement!

My next fest you ask?  Midwest Fiber and Folk Art in June!  Can't wait!

Okay, here's the yarn! So pretty. This roving is from Huckleberry Knits on Etsy. I have been having a bit of trouble drafting. I think it is me! I cannot wait to finish. 3 more nests to go, a nights rest and then I will ply it!

Freaked by steels no more!

Okay, so I finally steeked that sweater I made last year. I just could not exit 2012 without having done so. On Dec. 31, 2012, I steeked my first sweater! I was dizzy, nauseous, hot, and scared poopless. I must confess to having a shot of limoncello to calm my nerves. Well, here are the photos:

Here is the crocheted steek. This was easy. It came out well might I add!

Then it was time to cut! Wow, I am hot and dizzy thinking about it now even. See the shot next to the sweater? I wolfed that down and got to cutting!

At this point, I had to lay down on the sofa. It was so surreal. But, I did it, and I did not feel as bad as I thought I would. I started to feel powerful....in control of my knitting. The knitting no longer controlled me! I was the mistress of the wool!

See! Finished and I wore it out that night! Happy New Year to me....and to all of you also! In 2013 let's all take control of our knitting and have fun in the process.
